This is the DVW Page which includes the DVW-700.DVW-700WS,DVW707, DVW-709, DVW-709WS,DVW-790,DVW-790WS.

These are great units all tape path wise cause they are all the same much akin to the HDW-700A and the Cine' Alta units. Tape path is critical though.Equalization must be performed on a regular basis to insure proper RF performance.

Now, the DVW700's have problems with connector boards. And the rest of the series have problems with boards falling out. Take your pick. Either can cause other eletrical problems downstream like whacking your HN board NOVRAM. These units can also develop time code record problems and poor cue audio response.

DVW SERIES COMMON PROBLEMS

Below is a small list of some common problems that you will eventually face with these units.Some of these issues are covered in Sony technical bulletins and some are not. I've included the correct tech bulletin number where applicable.

DVW-700,700WS	Flashing CAM? in viewfinder. Constant.	This problem is most likely defective relay boards and/or problems with the connectors on the boards.

DVW Series All	Corrupted time code recording	This is caused by hardened grease on the shaft of the cue head stack.
DVW-707,709,790	Cold start at -3db gain shows bad black shading.	Upgrade to firmware version 1.18.
